Helping Homeowners Remove Mice Quickly, Repair Mouse Damage, and Seal Mice Out Since 1976
When there’s a mouse in your house, anything can happen. Chewed wires can start fires. Mouse droppings and urine can sicken your family. Damage can be widespread and permanent, but it doesn’t have to be.

- Exterminate mice from anywhere in your home
- Repair the damage that mice cause
- Eliminate health hazards by removing mouse contamination
- Replace old insulation with new clean insulation
- Install barriers to prevent mice from entering again

Great Teamwork
“I really appreciated the collaboration amongst the different workers and the time each worker put into educating me about wildlife management. Today, Kenny and Rolandus came out and it was refreshing to know they read the notes of the other workers and knew exactly what the next steps would be. Great teamwork.”
Mouse Pest Control and Mouse Extermination in Chicago and Illinois is Our Speciality
Mouse traps and mouse poison (rodenticide) won’t solve a mouse problem. Only sealing mice out by finding and sealing up the places they’re getting in will permanently keep mice out.
- Mice enter through tiny dime-sized holes. We find them and seal them up
- Our green methods reduce overreliance on rodenticide
- We install mouse-proof materials that mice can’t chew through
- We install fresh attic insulation when mice have soiled and damaged your attic
Mice have their place outdoors, not in your house.
How Do I Know I Have a Mouse Problem?
Mice leave droppings behind, but there are other clues too. Here’s how to tell if you have a mouse infestation.
- Mouse droppings are black and shaped like grains of rice
- Mouse urine leaves behind a musty smell
- Chewed up paper or cloth are an indication mice are nesting nearby
- Mice collect bits of insulation for their nests, so finding shreds of insulation is a sign of mice
- Mice travel through the attic and wall voids and they are most active at night. They’re louder than you would imagine, so hearing noises in the attic and walls can be a sign of a mouse infestation.
What Happens When There’s a Mouse in My House?
Mice need only a ¼ inch hole to get into your home. Once inside, they breed quickly and damage your home and destroy your peace of mind. They ruin food by contaminating it with their hair, feces, and urine. Mice are a fire hazard because they chew wires.
Mice destroy insulation by nesting in it, tunneling through it, and shredding it for nesting materials. Over time insulation becomes compacted with feces and urine. This ruins the insulation’s ability to function properly, wasting money through higher energy bills.
ABC Wildlife will eliminate mice, remove the contamination they leave behind, and replace insulation damaged by mice with new clean insulation. Then, ABC Wildlife’s pest exclusion experts will use rodent-proof materials to seal the holes mice are using to enter your home. The result is a healthy, mouse-free home that can save thousands of dollars by lowering your energy bills.

Why Do I Have Mice?
Mice have been living alongside humans for thousands of years, and have been spreading disease and making us sick for just as long. Your cozy home has everything they need to thrive; food, water, warmth and a place to raise their next litter. Mice gain entry by taking advantage of any hole larger than ¼ inch. Once they’re inside, they breed quickly, contaminate food with their urine and feces, and gnaw through wires and wood.
They’re looking for shelter. They’re looking for warmth and food. They’re looking at your home, no matter where you live. Call ABC Wildlife to seal mice out and take back your home.

Mouse Identification
House mice are one of the most well-known rodents and are easy to identify. They are small, slender rodents, grey or brown in color, and range from 5 to 8 inches in length (including the tail). A typical house mouse weighs less than an ounce. They are one of the most troublesome rodents and cause problems for home and business owners alike.
Mice are prolific breeders. Over the course of a year, a single female is capable of having 5-10 litters of 5-6 young per litter. This means that 2 mice can easily turn into 60 in less than a year.
A mouse infestation can be determined by a mouse sighting, finding mouse droppings, or by the presence of finely shredded paper or other fibrous materials. Mice use these materials to build nests. They also have a musky odor that can indicate their presence in or around your home. Mice are nocturnal and cause loud sounds in walls and ceilings. Because these spaces can echo, scratching sounds are often amplified, and they may sound like much larger animals. If you hear these noises or see a mouse in your living space, it is a sign that there is probably a very large mouse population in your home, and you should contact a professional immediately.
Habitat of Mice in Northern Illinois
The house mouse is common throughout the United States, including Northern Illinois. House mice live in and around homes, commercial buildings, and farms. They are commonly found in open fields and agricultural areas. They feed on cereal grain, but they can adapt to many different food sources depending on what is available.
Damage Caused by Mice
Mice cause damage both in the process of gaining entry into a structure and in feeding and nesting once they’ve breached the living space. The house mouse can enter from any number of small holes in your home including openings and cracks less than a half inch in diameter. These openings can be created or expanded by the rodents.
Mice usually seek shelter in homes in the winter and spring. They are most commonly found inside attics, walls, basements, and crawl spaces. In addition to feeding on and contaminating stored food, mice can destroy items stored in basements and attics, including valuable family heirlooms. They create structural damage by continually chewing and building nests and also gnaw on electrical wiring, which is a serious fire hazard.
When mice have been in a home for a prolonged period of time, it is not unusual to find destroyed attic insulation. Mice create tunnels through the insulation, reducing its effectiveness. They also contaminate the area with urine and feces.
Mice Health Concerns
Mice find and eat food meant for humans and pets, contaminating the food with droppings, urine, and hair. Mouse excrement and urine can carry dangerous parasites and bacterium, like salmonellosis, that can be life-threatening to humans in certain situations.
